SEVEN DAYS I SEVEN WORDS
The Seven Last Words of Jesus on the Cross
The Seven Last Words of Jesus, spoken from the cross, are a powerful reflection on his sacrifice, love, and ultimate victory over death. They offer a glimpse into his human suffering and divine compassion. Each saying, while short, carries a profound message of redemption and hope.
1. "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do"
(Luke 23:34):
This first statement demonstrates Jesus' unwavering forgiveness, even for those who condemned him. It highlights his immense compassion and willingness to extend mercy to others.
2. "Today you will be with me in Paradise" (Luke 23:43):
Jesus offers hope and a promise of a place in Heaven for the repentant thief crucified beside him. It underscores the power of faith and the possibility of redemption, even in the face of imminent death.
3. "Woman, behold, your son! Son, behold, your mother!"
(John 19:26-27):
Jesus reveals his concern for Mary, his mother, and his commitment to her well-being. It also speaks of his familial love and the establishment of a new family through the Church.
4. "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
(Matthew 27:46; Mark 15:34):
This powerful cry expresses Jesus' profound human suffering and the feeling of abandonment he experienced during his death. It echoes Psalm 22:1, a Psalm that speaks of abandonment that ultimately finds hope in God's mercy.
5. "I thirst" (John 19:28):
The phrase "Come to me, all who are thirsty" is a common biblical phrase, particularly found in Isaiah 55:1 and John 7:37, inviting anyone who feels a spiritual need or longing to come to Jesus for fulfilment. This cry from Jesus reveals a profound thirst, that only God can satisfy.
6. "It is finished" (John 19:30):
This declaration signifies the completion of Jesus' mission and the ultimate victory over death. It emphasizes his sacrifice and the accomplishment of God's plan for salvation.
7. "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit" (Luke 23:46):
This final submission shows Jesus' trust in God's love and his peaceful acceptance of death. It expresses his complete surrender to the Father's will and assures those who follow him of their own ultimate destiny.
These Seven Last Words offer a powerful message of love, forgiveness, hope, and redemption. They serve as a constant reminder of Jesus' sacrifice and the promise of eternal life for all who believe.

THE PASSION OF THE LORD
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth;he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,so he did not open his mouth.Isaiah 53:7

I will continue to follow
I will keep dying
I will be, I do not know how,
part of the big concert.
